TIGER film update

This February 2022 our brand new cine-dance short “TIGER” will open with the Lunar New Year Festival in Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand) - celebrating the incoming year of the Tiger.

The Tiger has incited a sense of both awe and admiration throughout history - the prowess, ferocity, beauty and a harmony of opposites comes to mind with this powerful animal totem. Full of life, Tiger embodies spirit, the drive to achieve and make progress. In Japanese culture, Tigers are an animal of the Zodiac and are thought to control the wind. They are considered sacred, standing for courage and long life.

The GCA team is creating a fast-paced and fluid solo dance film, cut to new music by jazz pioneer Mark de Clive-Lowe, featuring Taonga Pūoro musician Al Fraser. We are referencing the great sister peaks of Mt Fuji and Mt Taranaki in this piece, showcasing dancer Airu Matsuda with de Clive-Lowe's exuberant sound.

A stellar team is behind the mahi including Matsuda, de Clive-Lowe, Costumier Jeong-Hee Shin, Stuart Foster (Spatial/Light Design), Jac Grenfell (Motion Graphics), PJ Illustration (Animator), Donnine Harrison (Design/Producer) and Dan Belton (Director/Cameras/Post).

“TIGER” is a high energy opus - bridging the past to the now for positive change in our world. Orange is the new Black!
