HORSES is to be the final instalment of our Pan-Asian trilogy following TIGER (Silver-Lotus) and DRAGON. Renowned Aotearoa dance artists and collaborating Tōkyō-based dance artists, came together for an intensive choreolab and filming schedule at Babylon Theatre, Tōkyō in September 2025.
Big thanks to our fantastic creative team behind the making of HORSES: Mark de Clive-Lowe (Music Composer), Mahina Kingi-Kaui, Ariana Tikao (Taonga Pūoro), Joshua and Tyler Faleatua, Ririka Takizawa and Karim Araoka plus Nao Kamei (Dance Artists), alongside artistic director Daniel Belton and creative producer Donnine Harrison. Arigatou gozaimasu Idiot Savant Theater Co Tōkyō, Moonstar Tōkyō and Kowtow Wellington. Ngā mihi nui Creative New Zealand Toi Aotearoa for your vital tautoko.
With the success of the previous two films, we are excited for this new film to bring the trilogy full circle in a meaningful way, completing the artistic journey that Good Company Arts has created with our Asian arts whānau. Audiences in Aotearoa, Japan and around the globe have celebrated the dance, music and cinema language of TIGER and DRAGON (the films have won over 25 international awards).
HORSES promises an exciting fusion of inter-cultural storytelling, performing arts and cutting edge digital cinema, that will resonate with it's message of resilience, unity and freedom. The world premiere is set for February 2026, to align with the incoming 'Year of the Horse' as part of Lunar New Year Festival, Pōneke, Wellington, Aotearoa-New Zealand. Watch this space!
